Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is advising motorists to use caution as 4-H members participate in a province-wide highway cleanup on May 30 from 9am to 3pm, weather permitting.
The 4-H Manitoba Highway Cleanup is an annual initiative that sees clubs across the province collect litter along highways and roadsides. The program supports environmental stewardship while giving young people an opportunity to contribute to their communities.
All 4-H participants will be wearing high-visibility safety vests and cleanup areas will be marked with signage. Motorists are reminded to watch for increased foot traffic along highways, maintain a safe distance from workers and equipment, slow down in posted areas and stay focused on the road.
In the event of rain, the alternate date for the cleanup is June 6.
