Bethesda Foundation in Steinbach announced this past weekend that they are committing to raise four million dollars towards the new expansion of the RestHaven Nursing Home.

“For so many years we’ve been hearing stories of the elders and founders of our community being sent to a new and unfamiliar community when they need care in the last years of their life ,” says Linda Peters, Executive Director of Bethesda Foundation. “The time has come to change that story!”

Bethesda Foundation Board President, Garth Reimer, spoke on behalf of their Board of Directors at Friday’s HavenGroup Fundraiser. Reimer announced that Bethesda Foundation has made a commitment to raise four million dollars towards the new expansion of the RestHaven Nursing Home.

“Bethesda Foundation has long been an advocate of healthcare services in our region, and we are pleased to be part of this project today,” said Reimer. “This will be the largest donation to a single project in the history of Bethesda Foundation. We know how important this RestHaven project is to our growing community, and we are very excited to partner with a local organization like HavenGroup to help make this project a reality.”

“Enhancing healthcare through the generosity of donors in our community has allowed us to complete projects like the CancerCare Centre, the Crisis Stabilization Unit, and most recently the Bethesda Primary Care Centre and Stone Bridge Wellness Centre,” added Reimer. “We know our community has waited a very long time for more personal care home beds, and that people here want to ensure that their parents and grandparents will be taken care of right here at home. Therefore we are confident that we will have the support of our local community in raising these funds.”

Plans are underway to more than double the number of personal care home beds at RestHaven and Garth Reimer encourages everyone to support this very worthwhile project as the fundraising efforts begin.
