A Steinbach youth has been arrested in connection to a recent altercation at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School.

On September 18, 2019, at approximately 2:50pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report that a student had brought a pellet gun to school and had threatened another student at Steinbach Regional Secondary School.

Numerous officers immediately attended the school, which was on lockdown, and police conducted a thorough search of the building. The school was cleared and it was determined that the suspect had left the area.

Officers followed up on several tips and located the suspect at approximately 4:30pm outside a residence on McKenzie Avenue in Steinbach.

RCMP report that the suspect, a 15-year-old male from Steinbach, was arrested and is facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats and assault.

Police continue to search for the pellet gun used in this crime.
