A 32-year-old Manitoba First Nations Police Service officer is facing impaired driving charges after recently being arrested by Selkirk RCMP.

On October 10, 2019, at approximately 4am, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver that had just left a business located on Highway 59 in Brokenhead First Nation.

Police say that a traffic stop was initiated on the suspect vehicle after locating it on Highway 4 near Road 320.

Investigation of this incident led to the arrest of the driver and lone occupant, a 32-year-old male, for impaired operation of a conveyance. RCMP noted that the driver is a police officer with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service.

RCMP report that the driver was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on November 1, 2019.

IIU has been notified and RCMP continue to investigate this crime.
