A 25-year-old Steinbach man is facing numerous charges, including impaired driving, after being arrested by RCMP in connection to a vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Lumber Avenue and Main Street in Steinbach.

On January 2, 2020 at approximately 7:12pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a Dodge Ram pickp truck and a Chevrolet Equinox. Investigation determined that the Equinox was proceeding north on Lumber Avenue when it was struck by the Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling east through the intersection.

Police say that the male driver of the truck was noticed leaving the scene, but with the assistance of the public, was located a short time later at his residence where signs of impairment were noted. As a result, a 25-year-old Steinbach man will be facing charges of driving while over 80 mg%, as well as disobeying a traffic control device and failing to exchange information at the scene of a motor vehicle collision.

RCMP report that the driver of the Equinox, a 78-year-old woman from Steinbach, was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
