RCMP are currently investigating a recent attempted robbery incident that occurred at a financial institution located in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

On January 9, 2020, RCMP received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a financial institution located on Saskatchewan Avenue East in Portage la Prairie at 8pm that same evening.

Police say that the victim, a 61-year-old female, was walking to her vehicle when a male approached her and demanded money.  The victim refused and the suspect held up his hands as if he was aiming a pistol at her, however, no weapon was seen. The suspect continued to demand money, but eventually left empty-handed.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’8″ tall, having larger build and wearing a dark coloured winter coat with a hood.
