RCMP have arrested three individuals, two from the RM of Hanover and one from Steinbach, in connection to a recent armed robbery that took place in Grunthal, Manitoba.

On December 19, 2020, at approximately 5:45pm, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station located on Main Street in the community of Grunthal.

Officers were advised that three males, one armed with a handgun, entered the gas station and stole the cash register. The suspects were then believed to have fled the scene on foot.

At approximately 8pm, St Pierre-Jolys and Steinbach RCMP were advised that officers from the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) were attempting to locate a vehicle on Highway 1, near Highway 12, with suspects who matched the description of the Grunthal robbery. The suspects were believed to be involved in a number of recent armed robberies that occurred in Winnipeg.

RCMP and WPS officers then conducted patrols in the Highway 1 and 12 area, but the suspect vehicle was not located.

On December 20, further to the ongoing investigation, RCMP arrested a 19-year-old male from the RM of Hanover in connection to this robbery. The suspect vehicle was later located on a rural property in the RM of Hanover and seized for further investigation.

Police say that two additional 17-year-old males, one from the RM of Hanover and the other from Steinbach, have since been arrested. Officers continue to search for a fourth suspect.
