Due to this spring’s continued dry conditions, the Rural Municipality of Hanover is reinstating their Fire Ban for the entire municipality, effective at 12pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

This ban targets the intentional setting of fires in grass and brush.

  • Fire Pits – Fires in enclosed backyard fire pits are permitted and must be supervised at all times, however ratepayers are reminded to use caution and should not start a backyard fire in the approved pits if wind velocity is in excess of 32 kph.
  • Burning Permits – Agricultural burning permits may be issued by the Hanover Fire Chief upon application and review. To apply for a permit, please call or text 204-346-2384 for more information.

The ban will run through until conditions improve. Persons who contravene this ban and are found guilty of starting an unpermitted fire may be subject to fines and penalties as per the Fire Prevention and Emergency Services Bylaw No. 2435-19.
