Selkirk RCMP are reporting that a 44-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested and charged in connection to a recent spree of vandalism involving slashed tires in the community.

On October 18, 2025, at 9:30am, Selkirk RCMP received multiple reports of tires being slashed around the community. Police responded immediately and observed many red vehicles with puncture wounds in a parking lot located on Jemima Street.

Witnesses indicated that a male suspect was observed using a knife to slash tires.

Police say that at 5:45pm that same day, officers located the suspect responsible for the damage, and arrested him without incident.

Members noted that a total of 45 tires were slashed on 23 vehicles.

RCMP report that 44-year-old Steven Holowachuk, from Winnipeg, has been charged with 23 mischief offences and one charge of possession of weapon dangerous to the public.

Selkirk RCMP are asking anyone that was a victim of a similar incident over the weekend in Selkirk, to make a report by calling 204-482-3322.
