A 68-year-old man from the Rural Municipality (RM) of Ste. Anne was recently arrested and charged after intentionally driving into a man at a picket line in the RM of Taché.

On February 23, 2026, at 1pm, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a picket line located on Road 52 North in the RM of Taché.

Investigation revealed that a male suspect, driving a vehicle, refused to stop for the people on the picket line and pushed a male victim with his vehicle. As a result, the victim fell near a ditch, injuring himself.

Police say that the victim then approached the suspect, but was pushed by the suspect in the process, causing the victim fall to the ground a second time. Shortly after, the suspect left in his vehicle.

Officers were able to identify the suspect, a 68-year-old man from the RM of Ste. Anne, who was subsequently arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. He was later released for a future court date in Winnipeg.

RCMP noted that the victim, a 54-year-old male from Oak Bluff, suffered minor-non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.
