New Statistics Canada data shows Manitoba’s labour market continued to strengthen in March, adding just under 11,000 jobs.

“These numbers show Manitoba’s economy continues to create real opportunities for workers,” said Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses. “Even amid global uncertainty, the investments we’re making in skills training, workforce development and economic growth are showing real results. Our government remains focused on building a strong investment climate to support a resilient labour market that works for everyone.”

Full-time employment accounted for the majority of gains in March, increasing by just under 10,000 jobs, while part-time employment rose by just over 1,000 positions. Manitoba was one of three provinces to post job gains. Manitoba’s unemployment rate held at 5.6 per cent, ranking third-lowest among all provinces.

Manitoba’s employment growth outpaced the national average in March, reflecting broad-based strength across the provincial economy and continued confidence in Manitoba’s labour market.
