Pembina Valley RCMP recently responded to two serious vehicle collisions within 25 minutes. The incidents occurred in the Rural Municipalities (RM) of Rhineland and Dufferin.

On July 3, at approximately 11:10am, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to a serious head-on collision between a truck and semi-trailer on Highway 30, south of the Highway 14 junction in the RM of Rhineland.

Police say that the truck appeared to have drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with the semi. The driver of the truck, a 78-year old male, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Winnipeg.

On the same day, at approximately 11:35am, RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover at the intersection of Highway 3 and Road 14 West in the RM of Dufferin.

Investigation determined that a red SUV, turning south onto Road 14, crossed into oncoming traffic. An oncoming SUV subsequently swerved to avoid a collision, struck a culvert and rolled into a water-filled ditch, coming to rest on its roof. A 47-year-old Oak Bluff male was able to get himself out of the vehicle and was treated at the scene by paramedics for his injuries.

RCMP report that the driver of a red SUV briefly stopped at the scene, then fled south on Road 14 West. The driver is described as black female wearing a purple shirt.
