Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre has issued a flood warning for St. Jean Baptiste, Morris and areas surrounding the two towns with potential of some overland flooding in low-lying areas due to rising levels of the Red River.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre has issued a flood watch for the Red River from Emerson to the Red River Floodway inlet, just south of the city of Winnipeg. The river is forecast to spill over its banks at some locations with peak flows within the Red River Valley expected to occur between April 8 and 15.

RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance locating a missing Saskatchewan woman, 38-year-old Leslie Sparvier. Her vehicle was recently located abandoned in a rural area near Miami, Manitoba.

The Manitoba government has launched its first health-related social impact bond, Quit Smoking with Your Manitoba Pharmacist, to support thousands of people in becoming non-smokers.

Earlier this week, Assistant Commissioner Jane MacLatchy announced her planned retirement from the RCMP after more than 34 years of dedicated service to Canadians. Assistant Commissioner MacLatchy has been the Commanding Officer of the Manitoba RCMP for three years, having taken command in February 2019.

Pembina Valley RCMP are reporting that a three-year-old child has died as the result of an incident at a farm site located approximately 11 kilometres south-west of Roland, Manitoba.

Farm Credit Canada is now accepting applications from registered charities and non-profit organizations in rural Canada for the FCC AgriSpirit Fund. The fund will award $1.5 million in funding this year. The application deadline is April 29, 2022 and FCC will announce the selected projects in September.

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is advising the public to stay off the Assiniboine River between Shellmouth Dam and Portage la Prairie as the ice surface may weaken or crack and become hazardous following the reduction in flows from the Shellmouth Reservoir.

On April 1, several provincial test sites will be changing their hours of operation. All provincial testing locations will be permanently closed on April 15. Information about COVID-19, including vaccination, will continue to be updated in weekly epidemiology reports.

Manitoba Public Insurance confirmed today that it will be completing the previously announced transfer of funds from its non-compulsory Extension line of business to Driver and Vehicle Licensing to ensure the adequate funding of this line of business.
