Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.3 per cent provincially and one per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on September 23, 2021, 203 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 66 cases on Tuesday, Sept. 21; 70 cases on Wednesday, Sept. 22; and 67 cases today.

The Manitoba government will continue the extension of the state of emergency in efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and variants. The extension went into effect on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 4pm for a period of 30 days.

COVID-19 immunizations will begin to be offered to eligible young people at school-based clinics this week. These clinics will be offered during school hours and, in some cases, clinics will continue to operate outside school hours as a pop-up clinic for all members of the community.

Public health and education officials are announcing revised close contact identification and management protocols in schools to address the impact of remote learning and self-isolation on the safety and mental and physical health of students. The changes were implemented on Sept. 21.

The Manitoba government is investing nearly $14 million to support community-focused and one-on-one outreach to improve access to COVID-19 immunization and boost the number of first and second doses.

Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development advises that conservation officers are continuing enforcement to protect Manitoba’s natural resources, including compliance checks for fisheries, addressing illegal hunting, and supporting wildfire prevention and suppression, and additional officers are now in the field.
