On August 14, 2014, RCMP charged a La Salle man with aggravated assault and failing to provide necessities of life in relation to an incident that occurred this past May.

Police say that on May 25, 2014, a 10-week-old girl was taken to Winnipeg hospital with life-threatening injuries believed to be consistent with child abuse. The child was in the care of her adoptive parents when the injuries occurred. No other children were in the home.

RCMP investigation led to one of the child’s adoptive parents, a 39-year-old La Salle man, being charged. He has been released from custody and will appear in Winnipeg court on August 19, 2014.

RCMP report that the child’s condition has stabilized, but the extent of the long-term damage is undetermined. She is now in the care of Child and Family Services.
