Two individuals are facing numerous charges after recently being arrested by Steinbach RCMP in connection to a theft investigation that began in August 2014.

On August 22, 2014, Steinbach RCMP received a report that a $15,000 piece of drilling equipment was stolen from an address in Mitchell, Manitoba.

On March 18, 2016, a piece of drilling equipment was advertised for sale on a local social media outlet. Steinbach RCMP, Steinbach RCMP General Investigation Section and Units in RCMP Headquarters in Winnipeg entered into an investigation related to the equipment being sold.

On April 21, 2016, the investigation led to the arrest of two adult individuals. Steinbach RCMP were also able to recover the stolen piece of drilling equipment.

RCMP report that 27-year-old, Dustin Shelton was charged with trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation. 21-year-old Kristen Bolton was charged with trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Steinbach RCMP remind the public to keep a log of serial numbers associated to anything of value that they own. These numbers can come in very beneficial when investigating and tracking stolen property.
