On June 2, 2010, at 11:20pm, the Elphinstone RCMP Detachment were called to a shooting incident on Keeseekoowenin FN.
 
Early investigation indicates that two 14-year-old male youths, one 15-year-old male youth and one 26-year-old adult male, all from Keeseekoowenin FN, were out hunting beavers. During this time, a firearm was discharged by the 14-year-old youth, who stumbled on a stone, resulting in another youth being shot. 
 
The 15-year-old youth was taken to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for surgery and his condition is unknown at this time.
 
Charges are pending for the 14-year-old youth.  
 
The investigation is continuing.

Elphinstone RCMP have charged a 14-year-old youth from Keeseekoowenin FN with one count of careless use of firearm under the criminal code. The youth is scheduled to appear in Minnedosa Court on July 27th, 2010.
 
The victim is still in hospital recovering.
