Steinbach’s Parks and Rec summer crew are hard at work planting trees these days.
Landscape Technician, Joyce Purchase, said many of the trees being planted are replacing ones that did not survive the past winter. This includes a number of Silver Maples, Crabapples, Elms, Spruce, and Lilacs.
In addition to these replacement trees, 12 Green Alders, 44 Brandon Elms and 300 Donald Wyman Lilacs are being planted. Many of the trees have been planted at the Heritage and Memorial Cemeteries, Deerfield Park, and along Giesbrecht Street, behind Barkman Concrete. The 300 Lilacs will be planted at the west end of the Steinbach Soccer Park.
