Brothers Jacobi and Seth Heinrichs to be featured on CBC special to celebrate Canada’s Culture days.
Steinbach Arts Council Animation class students entered a short animation film through Freeze Frame, who was in conjunction with CBC, that will be airing the films September 23rd, 2010 at 7pm.
Brothers Jacobi and Seth Heinrichs were asked to create a 1-minute animation short film for a special on CBC through Freeze Frame. This was done in the conjunction of Canada’s Culture Days, coming at the end of September, featuring arts and culture across the nation in all communities, large and small. The brothers created a film of living on the grid, blacksmithing through the centuries, and showing how to make clay.
Jacobi has taken our Animation class for the past two years with Jason Doll, an instructor at the Arts Council for the past 6 years. Jason is a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Manitoba with seventeen years of professional experience in Traditional Animation directing and animating for film and television. The Steinbach Arts Council is proud to offer unique classes such as Animation, Cartooning, Pencil Caricatures, and Pottery taught by Jason and his wife Gabrielle who come out weekly from Winnipeg to instruct. Jason will again instruct our beginner and advanced Animation Classes, as well as Cartooning, at the Arts Centre.
“This is the first film that I have ever made,” says Seth, “I would like to learn more about film making and then collaborate with my brother”. Seth has learned a lot from his experienced younger brother.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the documentary on our family, as the CBC crew was in our home for 3 days,” says Jacobi, “I want to make more claymation films and learn more.”
The Steinbach Arts Council is very proud of the classes we offer in Animation, and proud of our Animation students, and hope for great things in both Jacobi and Seth’s future film making careers. We, along with the rest of the nation, look forward to seeing them on CBC television.
