Sharrow

Sharrows indicate the direction in which bicycle traffic should ride.

Phase two of Steinbach’s Safe Cycling Program is nearing completion.

The City’s Public Works Department has been busy painting sharrows and erecting ‘Share the Road’ signs along a number of other streets in the city, including Giesbrecht Street, Ellice Avenue, Woodhaven Avenue, and First Street.

A sharrow is a road lane marking that shows a stencil of a bicycle with two chevron markings above it, indicating the direction in which bicycle traffic should ride. The purpose of a sharrow is to remind residents to share the road when driving or cycling in Steinbach. Bicycle traffic should always ride in the same direction as motor traffic.
