The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is busy getting ready for the summer season.
Parks and Rec Dept. Head, Russ Dyck, says Centennial arena was closed last Sunday and the T.G. Smith ice will be taken out after Thursday of this week. Preparation of the various athletic fields will begin next week and continue over the following few weeks. Weather permitting, Main Street sidewalks and boulevards will be washed Tuesday and Wednesday nights of this week.
Dyck reminds everyone about the upcoming Pick Up & Walk community cleanup event on Saturday, April 24th. Volunteers will meet at T.G. Smith Arena at 9 am. Last year, 750 volunteers picked up a total of 7.1 tons of garbage in just two hours! Lunch is provided. For more info, call Dave Dickey at 326-9865 or Grace Hiebert at 326-9020.
Can’t make it to ‘Pick Up & Walk’? You can still do your part by picking up litter whenever you see it. Dog owners are also reminded to clean up after their pets. Lets keep our city beautiful!
