Despite the excessive amount of rain Steinbach has received this summer, Ernie Klassen, Steinbach’s Community Gardening Coordinator, says the community gardeners remain optimistic and are making the best of it.
Klassen says, Many expressions of appreciation for the gardens are heard and there is lots of great growth happening right now. Some of those tomatoes will be turning red very soon.
The community gardens now have a total of 16 gardeners and the area is completely subscribed.
Klassen notes, it’s rewarding to see gardeners from various cultural groups, including new Canadians, and also from various age groups, young families to seniors, taking part in the project.
