Knowledgeable scientists, industry leaders, and other professionals ensured participants at the 2010 Western Nutrition Conference acquired a renewed understanding of advances in animal nutrition.
Speakers from across Canada, the United States, England, Germany and China shared their expertise and research results from the dairy, beef, poultry and swine sectors at this event of discovery, which attracted about 230 participants.
This exchange of information enabled conference participants to reflect on their approach to animal nutrition, and then consider how to make improvements.
The conference, which convened around the theme ‘Challenging Conventional Nutrition Dogma,’ explored new breakthroughs, as well as ongoing research into animal nutrition. This educational event at Saskatoon’s Sheraton Cavalier Hotel featured more than 20 presentations and a panel discussion.
Tuesday’s pre-conference symposium examined the role of carotenoids in animal nutrition. On Wednesday, the presentations opened with the ‘J.M. Bell Memorial Lecture’ about new developments and important implications related to functional amino acids. Today’s plenary session looked at the animal industry in a changing society and future food needs. The conference’s concurrent sessions focused on nutrition in the Monogastric and Ruminant segments.
