Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives Minister Rosann Wowchuk honoured outstanding rural community leaders and organizations with Capturing Opportunities awards at a special presentation during the Manitoba Hydro’s Celebration Banquet at this year’s Capturing Opportunities business forum.

Carter Ferguson, a 16-year-old from Carroll; Emily Hickson, a 16-year-old from Brandon, and Shania Jack a 12-year-old from Portage La Prairie were the three recipients of the 2008 Grant Moffat Herdbuilder Award.

The recipients of the 2008 Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Awards and Sustainable Development Scholarships were announced today by Conservation Minister Stan Struthers, chair of the Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development.
