Obituary

Leslie Matthew George Duchene, age 60, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 in Steinbach, MB.

He was the husband to Dora Duchene, together, they have three children; Marina, Dorothea and Michael, and two grandchildren; Olivia & Carsen.

Les was born in Jellicoe, Ontario on January 01, 1957 to Ernest & Betty Duchene. He grew up in Ontario with his eight siblings.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers Charles (Chuck) and Keith Duchene.

He is survived by his siblings: Shirley Delorme, Ken Duchene, Darlene Dufault, Ann Miller, Ronald Duchene and James (Jay) Duchene.

Leslie enjoyed working on his woodwork projects, going fishing, driving Semi-Truck and spending time with his family. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humour, his calm spirit, hardworking ethics, and love for his wife.

As per the wishes of Leslie Duchene, the family will not be holding a funeral or memorial service.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported them during this time of loss.

“I’m still waiting for this to hit me.. it feels you’re still here.

It feels like you will be standing in the living room any moment, whistling and joking around. That we will see you sitting in the garage, in front of your woodwork smoking your cigar. You will come to us kids and tell each one of us that we need to get off our phones and enjoy the moment we are in.

Les was the best Man that ever walked into our lives. He showed our mother that there is a love strong enough to conquer all, and taught us kids that you don’t need have the same blood to be family. We will, forever, cherish every life lesson we were given, every entertaining fishing trip we took together, every piece of woodworking item you made for us, and everything else.”
