Obituary

Murray Arthur Mayo Brown, age 88, of Steinbach, MB, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Murray was born in Killarney, Manitoba to parents Eric Arthur Mayo and Elva Caroline Brown.

Murray is survived by his wife Jennie of 66 years, his daughter Sharon, her daughter Dawn, his two son’s Glen and Ron, and extended family.

Murray was well educated and certified in many trades and technologies. During the early days of Standard Aero Engine in Winnipeg, and for a period of 15 years, he was a leader in the development and testing of General Electric gas turbine engines and auxiliary systems. Upon Leaving, Murray entered into the garage business with his father, operating two full service stations until 1970, at which time the family relocated to Saskatoon Saskatchewan where he entered into the fabric business operating two stores, one in downtown Saskatoon and the other in Kindersley, Sk. In 1978 and until his retirement Murray was employed as a controls technician at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Now retired Murray spent many hours fabricating, machining and building numerous stationary and motive power gas and steam engines, was a life time member of the International Brotherhood of Live Steamers and the Saskatoon Model Engineers Society.

In 2014, Murray and his wife Jennie returned to Manitoba. Residing in the city of Steinbach, they spent the summer months at the cottage in Grand Beach with friends and family. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Murray will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

There will be no formal memorial as to his request, a celebration of all those who shared in his life will be held at a later date.
