Obituary

Henry went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ June 12, 2019 after a lengthy battle with health issues.

Henry is survived by his loving wife Marge, sons: Darwin, Elwin (Debra), Byron; grandsons: Brett, Brody (Melissa), three brothers John, Abe, Ed; two sisters Mary & Hilda, and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was predeceased by his parents Peter & Tina Giesbrecht, sisters Annie, Tina & Lena, brothers Pete & Jake.

Henry was born Nov 27, 1938 to parents Peter & Tina Giesbrecht in southern Manitoba, being one of 11 children. Henry attended classes at Forrestville School.

Henry accepted Christ as his Savior in his teen years and was baptized in 1960. He married Marge Dyck August 14, 1960.

He gained meaningful employment at the tender age of 15 years old in Winnipeg. Later he was employed at University of Manitoba from 1965 to 1997, when he retired at the age of 58.

In his retirement he was employed part time with the RM of Niverville, which he enjoyed very much. Of course his co-workers enjoyed him as well, especially when he showed up with donuts for coffee breaks.

Henry & Marge were blessed with three sons Darwin, Elwin and Byron and two grandsons Brett & Brody.

Much of Henry’s enjoyment came from doing yard work, which he did meticuiously. His handyman skills served him well on small projects around the house. He also loved deer hunting and did so with his brothers John and Ed. Fishing was another pursuit of his, which he did summer and winter. Camping with family was enjoyed as well.

Henry also loved watching his sons and grandsons compete and participate in school and community sports and activities. When his grandsons were younger, he would enjoy building the backyard hockey rink where they spent many happy hours together.

Some other interests included puzzling, playing checkers and a favorite was crokinole.

Henry had a gentle, kind spirit, was task oriented and a man of few words.

Henry enjoyed meeting family & friends for meals or coffee and would do it at the spur of the moment.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Fourth Avenue Bible Church, Niverville, MB., with viewing prior to the service.

Interment will take place at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville, MB.

Donations in memory of Henry may be made to One Hope Canada (memo line: Manitoba Division) 875 Gateway Rd #6, Winnipeg, MB R2K 3L1.
