Obituary

Mary Pederson (nee Doerksen), born October 5, 1932, in Rheinland Municipality, Mom went home to be with Jesus after a short battle in the Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg, MB., on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Shirley (Jim), daughter-in-law Kim (Bobby), grandsons Shawn, Jesse (Hayley) and Nathan (Natalie), great-grandsons Austin and Tyson, her sister Sue (Louie), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many great friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Palmer (2008), son Bobby (2001) and her six brothers and one sister.

Mom is the perfect example of what unconditional love is. She grew up on the farm with her six brothers and two sisters and learned early how to share, serve others, and love even when you didn’t feel like it. Her parents brought her up in a Christian home and she became a very hard worker leaving school at an early age to care for her family. She worked very hard her entire life, but she was especially proud of being a school bus driver in St. Norbert.

In 1950, she married her handsome blonde headed love of her life Palmer. Shirley was born two years later and two years after that her little brother Bob came along. We lived in Menisino on the farm near both grandparents. Mom always felt her greatest accomplishment was her family. Being raised on the farm she loved animals, nature, and spending time with friends.

Much thanks to Uncle Roy, Mary K., Olga and the rest of her Fernwood place family for your fun-loving ability to make each day a pleasure for Mom. Her memory will be cherished by everyone she touched and will never be forgotten.

The family would like to thank the Health Science Center SICU and GA3 staff, Pastor Darrell Dyck and Birchwood Funeral Chapel for their help, care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

An ash interment will be held at Menisino Cemetery, R.M. of Piney, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Society Manitoba, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB., R3C 2B7.
