Obituary

Dan Peters of Winnipeg beloved husband of Judith Peters passed away September 13, 2017 at home with family at his side. Dan was born December 17, 1936 on the farm in Franklin municipality. He was the fifth child of Cornelius and Maria Peters.

He is survived by his wife Judy of 49 years, brothers Peter of Edmonton, Frank of Winnipeg, David of Grunthal, Henry (Irene) of Leduc, sisters Marie (John) of Niverville, Margaret (Werner) of Niverville, Helena of Winnipeg, Susie of Saskatoon, and Elizabeth (David) of Saint Andrews, sister-in-law Audrey (Gordon) of Orillia, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by one sister: Katie Paetkau, and one brother: Cornelius Peters.

Dan grew up on the farm in Greenridge, Manitoba, leaving home to work in Silverton, Manitoba and then Grand Rapids. He became a heavy duty diesel mechanic by trade. He graduated from Manitoba Institute of Technology in 1964, completed his apprenticeship in 1967, and worked for Powell Equipment for 33 years in various positions until he retired in 1996.

Dan enjoyed traveling, especially in his 1980 GMC diesel truck, and with Judy throughout Canada and the United States. Summers were spent at the cottage at Nutimik lake where Dan enjoyed fixing and building items.

Dan had many health challenges over the last few years and he appreciated all the help his brother Frank gave and the support of his sisters Betty and Margaret. Many thanks to the nurses who helped him over the years, especially Traci.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd). A private interment will take place in the Morris Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dan may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or charity of your choice.
