Gertrude Nault

Obituary

Gertrude Nault, age 100 years, of St. Pierre-Jolys, MB passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Repos Jolys.

Gertrude was born in 1919 in La Rochelle and lived her entire life at la Coulee des Naults, St. Malo, and most recently, St. Pierre-Jolys. She married André Nault in October, 1937 and together, they made their life on the farm and welcomed two children: Violette and Guy. Sadly, Violette died in infancy.

Gertrude was a very hard worker all her life. She worked at the local sewing factory as a seamstress for over 40 years. She also farmed and kept a huge vegetable garden and flower beds. She loved flowers and her yard was filled with beautiful blossoms each year.

Gertrude was a gracious hostess who welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She loved to clean and bake and always had a big smile on her face. She lived a long, full, happy life and always marvelled at the amount of changes she had seen in our world in her 100 years. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her only son, Guy Nault.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband André Nault, daughter Violette, and partner Lawrence Church.

A celebration of life will be held in her honour on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Cremation has taken place.

Ash interment will be held at a later date.
