Obituary

On Wednesday, March 25th, 2020, Heidi Plett, a loving mother of three children, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 years.

With loving memories, Heidi will be mourned by her sons, Ian (Ruby), Lennie, and Clinton (Krystal); two brothers-in-law Nathaniel (Lucille) Plett, Gerry (Donna) Doerksen; one sister-in-law Kathy Peters; and all her beloved friends.

Heidemarie is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Norman Friesen Plett.

Heidi was born on July 31st, 1947, in a small town in northern Germany, Diepholz. In 1954, Heidi and her parents Jake and Milly Thoms, immigrated to Toronto, Canada. She grew up in Oakville, Ontario, where she completed her education to be a teacher.

Looking for adventure, Heidi signed up with Indian Affairs to teach grade one in Sandy Lake Ontario, where she met the love of her life, Norman Plett. They married on August 2nd, 1969, settling down at Plattehof, Norm’s family homestead near Blumenort Manitoba. In 1976, Norm and Heidi started their family with the birth of their first son, Ian.

Heidi had many close friends who she loved and cherished, and referred to as her sisters. She loved to travel, adored castles, was intrigued by geography, and prized family pictures. She loved her three sons, as every mother should.

A private family graveside service will be held at Ridgewood E.M.C. Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be planned for a later date.
