Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barrie-John (BJ) Woods, who passed away on November 11, 2017 at Health Science Centre, Winnipeg Manitoba, at 76 years young.

Barrie is survived by his two children: Kevin & Kimberlee and six grandchildren: Westley (Jenn), Sarah (Pete), Samantha (Ryan), Christopher (Natasha), Dustin (Amanda), and Kelly (Ryan), 15 great-grandchildren, along with his loving new-found siblings in England.

Barrie is predeceased by his wife Millie, mother Phyllis, brother Roy, and son-in-law David.

Barrie was loved by many and will be missed by all. His passions were art, the great outdoors (fishing and hunting), and he was dedicated to judo both as a member and an educator. Barrie was a hard working man well into his 70’s, served in the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and the Commissioners. Barrie had an exceptional devotion to his family and was proud of all of their accomplishments.

The family would like to thank the Health Science Centre, medical intensive care unit and Bethesda Hospital for their love, support and wonderful care over the last year. You are all truly angels!

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barrie may be made to the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200 – 6 Donald Street; Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.

A private family service is being planned and an ash interment at a later date.
