Obituary

It is with great sorrow the Rasmussen family announce that (Ralph) Norman Rasmussen passed away suddenly at his home in Steinbach on Monday, June 7, 2021. Norman was born in Vita, Manitoba on December 11, 1930. In the fall of 1963, he married the love of his life, Violet. They were blessed with three adoring children as they made a home on the family farm in Zhoda. Violet predeceased Norman in July of 1987.

Norman spent most of his life either working the family farm or working in different areas of the construction industry. For those of you who knew him, he loved unconditionally and was always there to lend a helping hand. Norman always had a funny story or memory to share and would astonish most of us with his uncanny ability to recall past events. He had a love of music and found great solace in playing his ever so famous fiddle. In the latter part of his life, he was able to occasionally travel, visit his grandchildren in Florida, and see parts of the world he only read about in the paper.

Norman was predeceased by his parents Ole Johannes and Ida Synova (Olson) Rasmussen; his brothers Harold (Alice), Erling (Ludwina), Lloyd, Alf; sisters Helen (Howard) Bracken/(Jim) Brown, Gladys (Bob) Clarke, Irene (Bernie) Toole and Reidun (Victor) Leeson/(Bill) Kaminski. Norman is survived by his children Marvin (Wendy), Dianne (Kent), Christine (Joel) and grandsons Nikolas and Christopher and his brother(s)-in-law Al, Lloyd and Dennis and sister(s)-in-law Evelyn, Agnes, Marie, Iris and Jolene. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private burial and a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
