Obituary

After a lengthy battle with various health issues, we must announce with bittersweet emotion, the passing of Timothy George Dokken at 2:00 pm Tuesday Sept 21,2021, at St. Boniface Hospital Asper Building, 4th floor. He was surrounded with love and honour by his family and friends. He went peacefully and quickly into the arms of his previous loving and devoted departed wife; our mom Terry Ann Dokken and his Heavenly Father.

He is in Heaven celebrating his new body with no more suffering and tears. That is why it is bittersweet. We miss him immensely and he has left us with big hole in our lives which cannot be filled by anyone, except Jesus.

Left to cherish his many memories, his daughters; Dana Dokken, Candice Carriere (Ken Gutknecht), Crystal (Robert) Aime; grandchildren Dorian Carriere, Katrina Carriere, Robbie Aime, Makayla Aime; as well as his dear friend Eleanor Braun, with whom he spent much time and took care of, prior to his hospitalization.

Tim worked as a bus driver with the City of Winnipeg Transit since 1981. He loved the riders; his favourite route was the 21 Portage Express. Each of his daughters enjoyed many bus rides with him after school, spending quality time with their dad.

Tim was well known for his wacky sense of humour, he had a natural way to make others laugh, even when he was not feeling well himself. He loved to tease his daughters, grandchildren, and wife Terry to the point our mom would call him by his full name “Timothy George Dokken.” That is when he knew he was in trouble.

He loved his candy, and we knew exactly where he left his stash. His candy supply never wavered even while he was in the hospital or Deer Lodge Centre. His favourite were Werther’s and gummy worms.

Tim was a big foodie; he was willing to taste or attempt to cook just about anything. His favorite was watching the Food Network. One could often find Tim grilling on his BBQ despite the weather 365 days a year.

As a family we enjoyed many camping trips in our tent trailer. Those where fun times.

Tim had a servant’s heart, which is why our mom and dad got along so well. Together they would love and care for others, often giving more than they had. Our parents always made a way, they had faith and hope in God, trusting things would work out for a better purpose. God always provided.

Despite mom and now dad leaving us too early in life, they completed the purpose God had planned for them. They lived an impactful life, showing us love and teaching us to love others. We are grateful for the wonderful memories. We know we will be reunited one day in Heaven, and what a reunion that will be. We love you and miss you mom and dad.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Please meet in the cemetery parking lot.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Anchor Point Church, 1400 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB. followed by a time of refreshments.

In memory of our parents, we ask those in attendance to wear red for congestive heart failure (Tim), teal for ovarian cancer (Terry), or both. We hope and pray this will continue to bring light to these serious illnesses which affect many families and those left behind.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
