Obituary

On Monday, September 20, 2021, Kathryn Dugdale passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, following a difficult battle with ALS.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Scott (Beth) and Ashley (James) and her grandchildren Taurian, Kristjan and Robby.

Kathryn was self-taught in many things. As a teenager, she developed a love of fashion and was inspired to learn how to sew. She meticulously honed her skill over the years and earned her certificate in Apparel Design from U of M. She started her own custom clothier business, Creations by Kathryn, with clientele extending as far as New York. She had the ability to create masterful pieces from just a picture, often drafting a pattern freehanded, including many bridal gowns.

Kathryn was a home renovation queen. Whether it was drywalling, painting, tiling or landscaping a backyard, she could do it all. She spent countless hours working hard on various projects, bringing each one to her high standard of perfection. Many sought out her expertise, she was always willing to lend a hand and help no matter the work involved. It was not uncommon to find her on the weekend with paint in her hair or drywall dust on her pants. She was particularly proud of the work she had put into her own home and that of James and Ashleys.

Kathryn loved to travel, taking many trips with family and friends. One of her favorite trips was to Tuscany, to cycle through wine country with her daughter Ashley, a dream come true for her. She also treasured each time she travelled anywhere in the U.S. to see Scott and Beth, especially when she got to see their home in Nashville. Most recently, her children brought her to Rosemary beach, FL to dip her toes in the ocean one last time.

Kathryn’s Faith was unwavering, even after her diagnosis, she never doubted God’s faithfulness. She called on the Lord for strength and felt peace knowing there was a room prepared for her. ALS may have taken her ability to speak and walk here on earth, but now she walks in Heaven, and the angels are no doubt hearing her laugh right now.

Heal me Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. ~ Jeremiah 17:14.

As per her wishes, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Kathryn to the ALS society.
