Obituary

Wilmer Fast, 97, of Steinbach, passed away on Saturday, August 6th, 2022 at Bethesda Place Personal Care Home in Steinbach. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, two sons, Duane (Grace) of Vancouver and Mallory (Kathi) of Winnipeg, son-in-law Stephen of Toronto and their families. He was predeceased by his daughter Tannis of Toronto on July 25th, 2022.

Wilmer was steadfast, dedicated, outgoing, always ready with a warm greeting for everyone, even strangers.

His career was in accounting. He donated many years of his skills to church bookkeeping, also for various charitable organizations. Before computers all accounting entries were made by hand, precisely and neatly in pencil with an eraser in case you made a mistake.

He loved singing and was actively involved in the music program at church plus many other areas.

Wilmer and Dorothy were married 71 years. They travelled extensively, sometimes with extended family. His family was most important to him.

Losing his only daughter the week before he passed was very traumatic for him and of course for the whole family.

One of his main pleasures was golfing with his friends and especially with his son Mallory. Sometimes in our travels in younger years if they spotted a golf course on the way we had to stop so they could go golfing while Tannis and Mom had to look for a place to stay for the night.

Wilmer has now joined his daughter in heaven where they will never part. We will miss you.

A livestreamed Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB with private interment at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
