Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Broesky (nee Friesen) who died on Saturday, November 26th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

To cherish her memory, Sandra is survived by her beloved husband Stan of 43 years, children Keith (Tiffany), Dale (Cindy), Stephanie (Leroy), Justin (Brett) and her seven grandchildren. Sandra is also lovingly remembered by her sister and brothers: Rosalie (Larry), Bob (Carol), Ron (Elaine), Vern (Val), Curt (Krista), sister-in-law Laverna, brothers-in-law Jeff (Susan), Harv, Glen and mother-in-law Helen.

Sandra was predeceased by her mother Hilda and father Cornelius, father-in-law Abe and sisters-in-law Shelly and Barb.

Sandra was born on December 7th, 1958, and was raised as part of a large Mennonite family on a farm near Grunthal, Manitoba. She graduated from Green Valley high school in 1977 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart on July 7th, 1979. Soon after marriage, they owned and operated a dairy farm for 20 years, with another 18 years on their poultry farm.

Sandra was hardworking, humble, quiet in nature, loyal to her faith and family, generous and loving. Even through her eight-year long battle with cancer, she displayed amazing strength and courage with a strong will to live, never wishing to draw attention or seek sympathy.

The things that brought joy into Sandra’s life were creative outlets like quilting and building beautiful floral and vegetable gardens on the farm. She loved fishing, camping, golfing, quadding, spending time with her sister and sisters-in-law and watching her grandchildren’s activities. Above all else, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, which meant the world to her.

A private burial service will be held at the Grunthal cemetery followed by a public reception on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
