Obituary

Frank Epp, age 76, of Orillia ON, passed away suddenly, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Frank is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 23 years Cathy Epp… Also his little fur baby Bailey Epp… (his constant companion while momma worked).

He is also survived by his loving step sons J.J. (Delvene Langan & Patrick (Michelle) Langan. Frank was loved and respected by his sister & brother in law (Jackie & Ralph Matz), nephew Stuart Matz (Jonathon & Brendyn Matz), nephews, Wesley Hokkinen & family, David Danielson & family & Joanna Klaehn & family.

He is survived by his loving sister Anne Colavecchia (Mike), brothers Richard Epp, Clifford Epp, and Louis (Amalia) Epp. He was also survived by his daughters, Cherry Hoagland & Lisa Epp. Loving step grandchildren, Braden & Kaeleigh Langan, Danica & Jalen Langan, Grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Crowaon (great grandson William), Amy Hoagland & family (great grand daughter Alaia)
Kimberly Hoagland. Loved by his nieces & nephews, Rick Epp Jr., Michelle (Dave) Bradley, Thomas Epp, Louis Epp Jr… Great uncle to Harrison, Lily & Ellie. He will also be missed by his step niece & nephews & families.

Frank was predeceased by his mother, AnneLiese (Louise) & his dad Louis Epp.

Frank always said that three times was a charm so our marriage was the one that would last a life time. From day one we became inseparable, like two peas in a pod… other than to go to work that is. Life became a happier time for both of us as we began our new life together. We both discovered that we like to be outdoors and thus got us into the idea of camping. Starting off in a tent soon taught us that we were too old to be sleeping on the ground and over the years we graduated to bigger and better modes of camping…We made great memories each year going to different campgrounds each summer… this also gave us the opportunity to travel… We did the east coast trip twice… the west coast twice… we even did Labrador and Newfoundland once… Great times… and the memories… especially the family ones spent out with Jackie & Ralph out in the country.

We also traveled to Texas… and to Mexico and Cuba and Myrtle Beach and even Atlantic city… he was always ready for that next adventure.

Frank worked at many jobs in his life time… with the last one being what we called his forte… he was a security guard at Casino Rama… in Rama. He could and would talk to everyone and anyone… made friends with everyone and gained the love and respect of all those who knew and worked with him… and then he retired.

Once he retired he became obsessed with getting a dog… and as luck would have it …soon after he became the proud owner of his own little pit bull whom we name Bailey… she is what kept him going during the days when I was working… and loved her cuddles and kisses and long walks… she cries for now… she loved her daddy…

He also liked to dabble in the kitchen… experimenting with foods of all kinds… sometimes cooking suppers became a fight as to who was going to cook… Always fun… his signature meal… spaghetti and meat balls…

Frank was the great fun loving carrying soul around… He always went that extra step for those who asked and even for those who did not always ask. He loved to make people laugh and smile and people and this is what friends will always remember about him.

Memorable times for Frank was when he could volunteer… He was proud of his time with the Pan Am and Para Pan am summer games… up in Mindon… with the white water rafters… he go to meet some pretty impressive rafters…he was very impressed when he was chosen to help with the IIHF… he also enjoyed the Winter Ontario games in Orillia..most of all he enjoyed the time we got to be in the Toronto Santa Claus parade… What a great day !!!! He also loved to dress up as Santa at kids breakfasts and even at the friends with Casino Christmas… always a good fun time… and lets not forget the Mariposa Folk Festival… what great times we had.

My family would like to thank the EMS ,First responders, Fire Dept who arrived and took such good care of us..to the Dr.‘s and nurses who cared for us at the Health Science Centre… and to the staff at the St Boniface hospital in Wpg for the care given. I also want to thank my sons J.J. & Patrick for letting me stay with them as i grieve and and my grandchildren for taking such good care of both of us when needed… also to Jackie & Ralph for helping in my recovery and grieving process.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life later in 2023.

Gone but never forgotten.
