Obituary

Eloise Lord (née Gagnon) originally from La Broquerie, passed away peacefully at Villa Youville in Ste. Anne on Friday, April 21st 2023 at the age of 92 years.

She is survived by her children Jean-Yves (Jacqueline Bérard), André (Nicole Tétrault), Claude (Tracey Wyder), Gilles (Debra Dalzell), Guy, Claire, Angèle (John Hill) and Paul as well as her daughter-in-law Karen (Hornick) Lord.

She was predeceased by her parents Eloi & Mary Gagnon, her husband Jean-Léon Lord in 1994, her little brother Jean in 1947, her son Marcel in 2006, her sister Cécile Mulaire in 2022 and her granddaughter Tricia White in 2023. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her siblings Sr. Éveline Gagnon from Winnipeg, Lucie Kirouac (Eugène), Rose Nadeau (Antonin) and Edouard & Céline Gagnon of La Broquerie as well as her 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Mom was a really good seamstress, a great cook and homemaker, and avid gardener and also an exceptional businesswoman having owned and managed with our Dad La Broquerie Abattoir, Mini Marché Convenience Store and then the Autopac agency in La Broquerie. She was definitely the Queen of Customer Service – always giving her full attention to the person she was serving and always, with a huge smile. Once she retired, she spent many many hours gardening in her extensive flower gardens, spending time with her grandchildren by always being present for them after school and being available for her parish and community. She loved helping and being of service to others whenever she could.

We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the personnel at Villa Youville in Ste. Anne who have cared for her for the past 4 years as well as her personal care-givers Suzanne Dupuis, Paulette Dittrick and Rolande Perreault. A very special thank you to a very long-time friend and fellow resident who visited with Mom regularly, Gisèle Connelly as well as our sister-in-law Nicole Tétrault, who as an employee of the Villa, would pop in to see Mom regularly. Both of you were our on-site angels who kept a close eye on her because unfortunately, we couldn’t be there for her every day. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace Mom and rest assured, you will forever be loved and missed.

A funeral mass and celebration of Mom’s life will be held at La Broquerie Roman Catholic Church in La Broquerie on Friday April 28th 2023 at 2:00 pm.
