Obituary

Henry “Hank” Redekop, age 84, of Niverville, MB., passed away peacefully, at the De Salaberry & District Health Centre, St. Pierre, MB., on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.

Hank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, Edith (nee Schmidt), son Doug (Sandra), and their son Matthew (Amelia); daughter Cheryl (Dennis), and their son Ryan; son Will (Pao); daughter Bonny (Jeff), and their sons Dominic (Tori) and their son Brooks, Barrett, Alex, and Cole; sister-in-law Marge; brothers William (Roselyn), Aaron (Donna), Victor (Karen), Peter (Darcy); sisters Margaret (Dave), Hilda (Stew), and Linda (Jess); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Hank was predeceased by his parents and brothers Jake, David, and sister Helen.

Hank was born in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico on September 20th, 1939. Their family immigrated to Manitoba in 1945 and first arrived in Marquette before moving to the family farm west of Niverville.

Although he worked off the farm for a few years, his love of farming quickly called him back to the land, and Hank farmed with his brothers for many years in a business fondly known as Redekop Farms.

On June 26th, 1964, Hank and Edith were married in Arnaud, MB. This year would have marked their 60th Anniversary! They made their home on the farm east of Niverville for nearly 46 years before they retired in the town of Niverville.

Hank’s love of farming was only surpassed by his love of his family and his garden. He was very proud of both!

Hank was a quiet man that was always willing to lend a hand whenever and wherever needed. He will be missed.

We wish to thank Dr. Salem, and all the staff at Silver Lining Care, Niverville Credit Union Manor, Bethesda Regional Health Centre and De Salaberry & District Health Centre for the amazing care and compassion they have shown our family.

The private family burial will take place on Saturday, May 11th, 2024.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
