Obituary

Kornelia (Nellie) Zacharias, age 93, from New Bothwell, MB, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Nellie Peters Zacharias was born Kornelia Krause on April 20, 1924 in Silberfeld, Manitoba. She was baptized in 1941 upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ.

On July 8, 1941, she married Jackob Peters. Four children were born to them in Canada, though tragically their first two children died in a house fire. In 1948, they moved to Bergthal, Paraguay, South America where nine more children were born to them.

On July 11, 1968, her husband died and she began a 20 year journey of being a widow and raising her children alone.

On August 14, 1988, she married Peter Zacharias who passed away on July 29, 2000.

Nellie passed on many valuable lessons to her loved ones such as respect, sound morals and good work ethic. But the legacy she left us with, was her strong faith in Jesus and her constant prayers to God on behalf of her large family.

Nellie is predeceased by her two husbands, three daughters, eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, one great-grandchild and one step-great- grandchild.

She leaves behind ten children and four step-children along with their spouses, 63 grandchildren, 27 step-grandchildren, 135 great-grandchildren, 141 step-great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren and 19 step-great-great-grandchildren.

…and yes, she knew each of her family members by name!

Viewing will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, New Bothwell, MB, with burial to follow at Sommerfeld Cemetery, New Bothwell, MB.
