Obituary

Marie Rose France (Nault) Barnabé, beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, and friend, died on June 8 2018 at the Morris General Hospital. Mémère was born at St. Pierre Jolys, Manitoba on December 3 1926. She worked on the family farm where she established her strong work ethic which never wavered. She married Robert Barnabé on October 31 1953, and they raised their family in St. Jean-Baptiste. She worked in the healthcare system, was a foster mother, and worked at the school. Our favourite memories of Mémère are: driving into the ditch; lunch, gatherings and sick days at her house; great debates; her independence and feisty spirit; tourtière, soup, donuts and butter tarts; flyswatters; the hats, shoes, and jackets; her garden; walking every day and determination to stay healthy;strong social justice beliefs; and her open heart. She didn’t have much but gave all she could, and was a model for all of us about how to love and take care of others.

Mourning her death are her children: Marcelle and Renald, Michel and Judy, Marc and Bernice, Nicole and Donald; grandchildren: Cheryl and Patrick, Carmelle and Allan, Chris and Neil, Chad and Josianne, Christy and Brad, Troy and Francine, Kayla, Kylee, Jorgia; great grandchildren: Jocelyne and Madeleine, Alexander, Ashlyn and Mackay, Addison and Carter, and many nieces and nephews. She has joined her husband Robert and son Luc.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful nurses, doctors, homecare workers, visitors, Morris Funeral Home, St-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church and all who provided their support during these difficult times.

Mass and eulogy will be held on Monday June 25 2018 at the St-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church starting at 4:15pm, preceded by a power point presentation.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Diabetes Canada, CancerCare Manitoba or Morris Palliative Care.
