Abram “Abe” Krause, age 72 years, of Steinbach, MB., formerly of Grunthal, MB., passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at De Salaberry District Health Centre, St. Pierre, MB.
Abe was born on March 3, 1954, he was the seventh child of 13. He passed away peacefully with his sister, Patsy at his side.
He leaves to mourn three sisters and five brothers; Betty Wiebe of Steinbach, MB; John (Linda) of Calgary, AB; Dick (Diane) of Ste. Anne, MB; Neil (Margertte) of Anola, MB; Patsy (Geric) Penner of Steinbach, MB; Patrick of Calgary, AB; Larry (Trish) of Calgary, AB; Hilda (Jason) Northage of Winnipeg, MB; many nephews, nieces, and their families along with cousins and friends. He also is survived by one son and his family.
Abe was predeceased by his parents Dave & Anne Krause, three brothers and one sister.
He caught chickens with his brother Dick, at the age of 15. He also lived in Calgary for a while and worked at Western Aluminum, making windows and doors. He also worked at Lund Boats, Schmidtke Millwork, A & H Glass, and Loewen Window’s for almost 20 years.
In retirement, he moved to Grunthal, and found a friend called Cecil. When covid happened they decided they could have coffee together, and still clean up the ditches, picking up pop cans etc… Abe and Cecil became close friends and together they found many treasures in those ditches.
Two years ago they found a large lump on his kidney and liver (the size of his fist). They removed it, and he did his recovery at his sister Patsy & Geric’s house. He knew that he couldn’t do it alone so he moved in with them.
After two years of many health issues, his kidneys failed, and he went to his heavenly home.
We the family, would like to thank all the doctors and staff at De Salaberry District Health Centre in St. Pierre, for all the kind and gentle care he was given. We would also like to thank everyone for their kindness and prayers during this difficult time.
He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Abe!
