Obituary
David Sabourin passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at Villa Youville Nursing Home in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, with his beloved wife Rita with whom he shared 73 years of marriage, and his children by his side.
David was born on March 20, 1932, in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba. Together he and Rita built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and family, raising eight children: Dianne, Jacqueline (Yadi), Omer (Noella), Florence (Robert), Gisele (Claude), Rosaline (Marcel), Roger (Teresa), and Denis (Crystal).
David was a proud grandfather to 26 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 53 great- grandchildren. Family was at the center of his life, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved and is fondly remembered as a generous, humourous, and loving grandfather.
David was preceded by, his parents Omer and Irene (nee St Vincent), daughter in-law Noella, great- granddaughter Zoe, grandson Dean, and his siblings Jeanette, Emile and Aurore. He was also preceded by parents’ in-laws Ovide and Marie-Flore (nee Fillion) Sarrasin and, and many brother in-laws and sister in-laws. He leaves behind his brother Raymond.
A quiet, humble man, David took great pride in his work. Whether as a mechanic or a carpenter, he was known for his exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. Throughout his career, he was especially respected for his skill as a mechanic. He and Rita enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing on their boat.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Villa Youville for the care provided to David in his later years. We also thank Cancer Care Manitoba and the staff of Ste. Anne Hospital and Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach for their support, comfort, and excellent care during his illness.
David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The memorial service for David will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ste. Anne-des-Chenes Parish, 162 Central Avenue, Ste. Anne, MB.

David est né le 20 mars 1932 à Saint Jean-Baptiste, au Manitoba. Ensemble, lui et Rita ont bâti une vie fondée sur la foi, le travail acharné et la famille, élevant huit enfants: Dianne, Jacqueline (Yadi), Omer (Noella), Florence (Robert), Gisèle (Claude), Rosaline (Marcel), Roger (Teresa) et Denis (Crystal).
David était le fier grand-père de 26 petits-enfants et l’arrière-grand-père de 53 arrière-petits-enfants. La famille était une part centrale de sa vie, et il chérissait chaque occasion de passer du temps avec ceux qu’il aimait. On se souviendra de lui comme d’un grand-père généreux, plein d’humour et profondément aimant.
David a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents, Omer et Irène (née St-Vincent), ainsi que par sa belle-fille Noella, arrière petite-fille Zoe, petit-fils Dean, et son frère et ses sœurs, Jeanette, Émile et Aurore. Il a également été précédé dans la mort par ses beaux-parents Ovide et Marie-Flore (nee Fillion) Sarrasin, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères et belles-sœurs. . Il laisse dans le deuil son frère Raymond.
Homme calme et humble, David était très fier de son travail. Qu’il ait travaillé comme mécanicien ou charpentier, il était reconnu pour son attention exceptionnelle aux détails et la qualité de son travail. Tout au long de sa carrière, il a surtout été respecté pour ses compétences mécaniques. Lui et Rita aimaient aussi voyager, camper et pêcher sur leur bateau.
La famille tient à exprimer sa profonde gratitude au personnel de Villa Youville pour les soins apportés à David au cours des dernières années. Nous remercions également CancerCare Manitoba, ainsi que le personnel de l’hôpital Ste. Anne et du Bethesda Regional Health Centre à Steinbach, pour leur soutien, leur confort et leurs excellents soins pendant sa maladie.
David manquera profondément à tous ceux qui l’ont connu et qui sont restés dans leur mémoire avec affection.
Les funérailles auront lieu le 30 juin 2026 à 13 h à la paroisse Sainte-Anne-des-Chênes, située au 162, avenue Centrale. Ste. Anne MB.
