Obituary

Peter James Loewen of Steinbach, Manitoba, died unexpectedly on June 12th, 2026, on his 71st birthday. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Beverly (Hiebert) Loewen, and their children: Mike & Meghan Loewen Cook, Brett & Candace Loewen (Hudson, Lucas, Abigail, Silas), and Mikayla & Tim Cantu; His brothers Dave & Shirley Loewen, and Gerald Loewen; as well as extended family members and many dear friends who will miss him deeply. Pete was pre-deceased by his parents Henry D & Helen Loewen.

Pete was born on June 12, 1955, in Steinbach Manitoba. He was the youngest of 3 boys and was known for his mischievous nature. Pete met the love of his life, Bev, on New Year’s Eve in 1978 and they were married a year later. They had 3 children, Mike in 1982, Brett in 1986, and Mikayla in 1990. The family enjoyed many concerts, vacations, and memories at the lake.

There is so much to say about Pete that it’s hard to know where to start. He loved music, motorcycles, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. Pete’s laugh was infectious and you couldn’t help but join in. Pete ran in many social circles and was loyal to new and old friends alike.

Pete’s loss leaves a huge hole in the Loewen family, but we take comfort in his faith and assurance of salvation. We are so thankful for the time we had with him and will treasure all the memories.

The Loewen Family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The funeral service for Peter will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bothwell Christian Fellowship Church, New Bothwell, MB. A fellowship meal will follow the service, and a private burial will follow at a later date.
