Obituary

Isaac Wiens Doerksen was born on June 9, 1924 in Barkfield, Manitoba and died on June 30, 2026 at his apartment at Donwood Manor. You don’t reach the age of 102 without being predeceased by many loved ones. Among them were his wife, Katharina (Tina) in 2023 and his daughter-in-law, Judy in 2024.

Dad is survived by his children, Ronald, Larry (Sandra) , Howard (Frieda) and Linda (Lionel) Normand as well as 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Dad lived his life with a thankful heart, always acknowledging that in Christ he had all he needed.

Throughout the years Dad was involved in many church committees, prison ministry, working with the Gideons handing out Bibles, teaching Sunday School, serving those in need, supporting missionaries, and giving generously to various charities to his last days; but none of those things defined who he was. He was simply a sinner saved by Grace… and he knew it.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:15

Dad leaves a legacy of strong unshakeable faith in the only true God who sacrificed His son, Jesus Christ to pay for our sins so that through Him alone by God’s grace we are saved.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ~ Ephesians 2:8-10

The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Donwood Manor as well as Isaac’s homecare workers and Dr Molly for lovingly caring for our Dad.

The funeral service for Isaac will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
