Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Shauna Colleen Harms-Wiebe. Her last hours before the accident were spent riding her motorcycle on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with people she loved.
Shauna was born on February 12, 1970, to Dan and Helen Harms. She was the second of four children. She accepted Christ as her saviour at an early age. When she was very young, the family moved from Winnipeg to Saskatoon and lived in various places in Saskatchewan throughout her childhood. As a teenager, she had a lead role in her school musical. She graduated from high school in Saskatoon and attended Nipawin Bible College for two years.
After Bible college she moved to Kleefeld and attended a church College & Career group, where Andrew also attended. They became close friends, and a year later they started dating. They were engaged in April 1991 and married on August 10th that year. She and Andrew enjoyed spending time camping together, although Andrew may have enjoyed it more than she did. In their first year of marriage, Shauna wanted to learn to play the piano, so they bought an old piano and she took lessons. She spent the next ten years learning to play, achieving a Grade 8 level before repetitive strain stopped her. She continued playing piano to lead worship in church throughout her life.
In 1996 Shauna and Andrew had their first child, Kenton. He was followed by Brooke in 1997 and Luke in 1999. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom to nurture her children and help them be the best they could be. As a family, they enjoyed camping every summer, including a camping road trip to Drumheller, Banff, Jasper, and Edmonton in 2008. Each year she made increasingly elaborate birthday cakes for her children, including a race track, an airport runway, a mud pie complete with gummy worms, a treasure chest, and a Barbie dress.
When her children went off to school she started teaching piano to beginners. Her love for teaching young children gave her the desire to become a school teacher. She started attending the University of Manitoba in 2010, when she was 40 years old, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013, majoring in English. As she continued her studies, she came to the realization that teaching was not her calling, so she pivoted to a career in banking and finance, which eventually led to her starting her own bookkeeping business in 2025. She continued to study and learn more about bookkeeping, aiming to grow her business into the future.
Shauna loved music throughout her life. It got her in trouble as a teenager when she listened to secular music. She had an amazing voice, and as a young adult she sang as a soloist in multiple weddings. Later in her life she regularly went to concerts with a friend, giving Andrew a free pass some of the time, but she still managed to drag him to a few shows over the years. She was a member of the band Soul Purpose for more than ten years, and she accomplished a lifelong dream when Soul Purpose produced an album. Another lifelong dream was participating in musical theatre, which she fulfilled when she joined the production of the show Broadway Moments by the Steinbach Arts Council in 2026.
Shauna’s family was everything to her. She loved spending time with her children and their partners. She made lunch for the whole family every Sunday she could, and she also loved playing games with her children, which included lots of laughter. She would drop everything for a chance to play with her granddaughter Everly, and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another grandchild. When her children chose life partners, she embraced each unique person and accepted them totally, seeking to support them in whatever ways possible.
Her church family was very much a second family to her. She was involved in Sunday school, prayer ministry, and music ministry, and she was a friend and an encouragement to many people. She often made meals for people and led devotionals.
A few years ago, Shauna joined a church committee for sponsoring Christians from Afghanistan whose lives were in danger under the rule of the Taliban. She volunteered for the finance committee and helped the refugees understand all aspects of finance in Canada. This led to her and Andrew volunteering to host Nasrin in their home to help her get established in Canada, and very quickly she became their daughter. Shauna loved Nasrin and made every effort to help Nasrin in all areas of her life. Nasrin described Shauna as a kind angel in her life.
Shauna always served God in whatever way possible because of the grace and mercy God poured out on her. Because of the way she lived her life, we know that she has received a crown in heaven because of her love for God. One Bible verse that speaks to how she lived her life is Matthew 25:40, which says “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” There is no doubt that she has already heard the words “Well done, good and faithful servant. Now enter into God’s rest.”
Shauna is survived by her husband Andrew Wiebe; her son Kenton Wiebe and his wife Michaela; her daughter Brooke Reimer and her husband Kevin and daughter Everly; her son Luke Wiebe and his partner Alina Hart; Nasrin Jamshidi; her parents Dan and Helen Harms; her brother Karsten Harms and his family; and many more loving relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the first responders in Falcon Lake, as well as the emergency team at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, for their efforts and their care during her final moments. The family would also like to thank friends and family for their prayers and support.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Crossview Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB.
