Obituary
Gerald Edwin Klippenstein was born on March 23, 1958, to Edwin & Maria Klippenstein and passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Steinbach, MB, at the age of 68.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Fehr) Klippenstein. He was a loving father to Levi (Tracy) Klippenstein and Rebecca (Brian) Letkeman. Jerry was an incredibly proud Grandfather to Jaxson and Jace Letkeman, and Sophie and Brooklyn Klippenstein. He leaves behind his mother Maria Klippenstein, and siblings Brenda (Elmer) Funk, Albert (Evelyn) Klippenstein, Eric (Ange) Klippenstein, Carol (Tim) Toews and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Edwin Klippenstein and sister Wendy (Klippenstein) Yousif.
Jerry met the love of his life in a church group. They married on August 13, 1977. Before having children, Jerry and Marge drove long distance truck across Canada. Shortly after his children were born and wanting to spend that time being more present at home, Jerry had jobs working in construction, concrete and roofing. In the mid 90’s, Jerry’s experience in the construction industry earned him a job as the Assistant Manager at Grunthal Lumber. He took great pride in this position as it allowed him to service his community through commercial and residential development. After becoming afflicted with early onset Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) at age 57, he was forced to leave his much-loved position at Grunthal Lumber and retire.
Jerry loved the outdoors and nature. Hiking (Especially in the mountains during his time living in B.C.), and many summer weekends of camping and fishing trips to Northwestern Ontario. He enjoyed coaching both minor league hockey and baseball and playing golf. He loved to travel all over Mexico and the Caribbean with his wife.
The family would especially like to thank the staff in Golden Creek who cared for him at Resthaven Care Home in his last two years.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
