Obituary

In the early morning hours of August 1, 2026, Eva Neufeld passed away peacefully at Bethesda Regional Health Centre surrounded by her loving family, having reached the age of 52.

She is survived by her beloved husband Jacob Neufeld, their son Randy and their two (2) daughters Priscilla and Jennie, her father Wilhelm Rempel, her stepmother Nemesia, three (3) sisters and two (2) brothers and their families. She was predeceased by three (3) children, her mother Margaretha Rempel, two (2) sisters, and three (3) brothers.

Eva Neufeld was born on October 2, 1973, in Lowe Farm, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Wilhelm and Margaretha Rempel. She joined Jacob Neufeld in holy matrimony on February 25, 1996. On June 27, 2010, she made peace with God and was baptized on September 27, 2014, upon the confession of her faith.

Eva and Jacob began their life together in Mexico, where their journey as a family first took root. In 2003, they moved to Manitoba, Canada, carrying with them their hopes and dreams for the future. They later returned to Mexico in 2008, but in 2017, they made the decision to settle in Manitoba permanently.

Family meant everything to Eva. She carried a deep burden for her unsaved relatives and prayed faithfully for them each day. She found great joy in cooking for her family and took delight in providing for them. If live chickens were available, she would order enough to ensure there was plenty for everyone, and she did not shy away from the hard work of butchering them herself.

Eva also loved gardening and made sure her children learned to do it as well. She expected a job to be done well, and if it was not, she would send them back until it was right. She knew how to plan ahead, and she was not a quitter. Whatever needed to be done, she found a way to make it work.

She was creative and took pride in her beautifully decorated cakes, which became one of her special accomplishments. Eva will also be remembered for her teasing spirit and playful sense of humor. She was bright, cheerful, and full of life. She loved singing, music, and crafting, and enjoyed playing the keyboard. Her creativity was evident in all her craft projects.

Eva also loved nature and enjoyed capturing its beauty through her photographs.

The viewing will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with the service commencing at 1:00pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, Manitoba. There will be a fellowship snack at Birchwood Funeral Chapel after the burial.

A special thanks to friends and family for their care shown during this time through their visits, food, flowers, messages, and phone calls. We thank the staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the kind attention and gentle care during her last days.
