Obituary
It is with sadness, and deep love that we announce the passing of Ernest (Ernie) Lloyd Reimer as he swung his last hammer August 9th, 2026, at the age of eighty-three. Leaving a legacy as strong as the homes he built.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by sons Lloyd (Corinne), Conrad, his grandchildren, brother Edmer, sister Sheila, and their families.
Ernie Reimer was the Framing Maestro! A man built on a firm foundation of faith!
Ernie was born on December 2nd 1942, at the peak of WWII to Klass and Jessie Reimer. He grew up in Landmark with his two brothers and two sisters, and accepted Jesus into his heart at a young age.
Growing up at an earlier time of life wasn’t quite as fast paced as what we have today for Ernie. Life in a lot of ways was simpler, but in many ways tougher. For Ernie this included many chores and tasks on the family property, such as collecting eggs, gardening, and using a crosscut saw with his brother Edmer for firewood. That was a lot of hard work! Entertainment was always an adventure, or in an extreme case three-foot thistle fights bareback with Edmer while weeding the garden.
Growing up and learning in School looked a little different as well. He attended a schoolhouse in Landmark, and many days involved a long journey walking to the school. It was in those days playing football on the O-Line and D-Line was a highlight for him. He would always tell of the time, Landmark had a scheduled game against Steinbach during the Steinbach Fair, which resulted in most of the Steinbach team not showing up, and Landmark having to spare a few players over to play out the game.
As time flew by, he met his future wife Mary Anne in a wedding party, and on June 20th 1965 they got married at Niverville Mennonite Church. They lived in Lac Du Bonnet, Pinawa, and Steinbach for a little while near the Hospital, but then moved to Niverville where the two of them planted their foundation. Planting roots and raising two boys Lloyd and Conrad, who Ernie cherished dearly.
Ernie spent many hours devoted to his sons in many ways. Including at hockey and baseball games growing up, tobogganing at the floodway, camping adventures, and times in the backyard.
Ernie’s work Career may be highlighted by construction but doing so with leadership and integrity. Ernie went to school at Red River College for Carpentry and not only had a gift to build in construction, but build up the men on his crews. He ended up framing many homes, with his brother Edmer, as they worked in partnership in E. Reimer Construction. A crosscut team ready to handle any challenge! Framing many places in Winnipeg, and as far away as Fort Francis. As Ernie’s brother Edmer stepped back in 1998, Ernie’s son, Lloyd, would join the family business, making it a truly Reimer-able partnership. Together they framed many homes and then would turn E. Reimer Construction into Precision Homes. It was there Ernie amplified the motto of ‘Our Reputation is the Cornerstone of your Foundation’, which he was. They left no stud unturned.
Ernie left a mark in the cornerstone of the foundation of the community of Niverville. Generously serving on the Credit Union Board for over 20 years, and dedicated time for the Niverville Community Club. He even called the shots as an umpire for Minor League Baseball. Talk about striking out the competition!
Ernie found solace and community in Niverville Mennonite Church, which is now transformed into Niverville Community Fellowship. He and his beloved wife, Mary Anne, faithfully served as deacons, spreading kindness and compassion.
Later on, as he started to get older, Ernie hit the road with Conrad, racking up miles and memories – even got his Class 1 just so he could keep up with the truckin’ adventures that awaited. Ernie and Mary Anne didn’t take many vacations, but in 2013 they shared a meaningful adventure on a mission’s trip to Bolivia and Paraguay – a trip they enjoyed. Ernie semi-retired in 2009, but stayed involved in Precision Homes up until 2015. It was around this time, he spent more time with his grandkids, making leaf piles in the yard, having them over for a week when the parents were on vacation, or at the trailer in St. Laurent, and in Richer. Spending time at the Niverville Fair with his grandkids, on the rides, bumper cars, and the Ferris wheel were highlights.
He moved into the Heritage Life Lease shortly after Mary Anne passed in 2015, and enjoyed spending time at the Niverville seniors’ lunch, and the coffee shop for fellowship. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids as they stayed over, or went out for dinner with them.
At the end of the day, a Foundation of Faith was a big part of Ernie’s life, spending each morning in his Bible, devotions, praying for others, and living a life exemplifying Christ. He was a leader, teacher, father, loved boss, joker and prankster, but a light that many enjoyed. You never know when, and you never know where as he liked to say, but it is his own quote that we can be encouraged in today as he says “This world isn’t pleasant, but we can choose to make it pleasant”, a man who brought John 3:16 to life. We will miss you, Ernie.
The Funeral Service will be held at Niverville Community Fellowship Church, 85 2nd Street South, Niverville, at 2pm August 13th, 2026. With viewing prior to the service. A private interment service will be held following the funeral luncheon service at Hespeler Cemetery in Niverville.
